Studio Guidelines for Covid Phase 3:
Students, and I must wear a mask in the building.
Social distancing will be enforced. (tables and materials are organized for ample distance between students)
Class sizes will be limited to no more than 6.
Students and I must hand santitize before and after class.
All tools, materials and tables will be sanitized with bleach between classes.
Summer Workshops for Kids Ages 5-12

SCAVENGER HUNT SUPER COOL SCULPTURES

UNDER THE SEA

This fun class is an opportunity for kids to explore, invent, experiment and CREATE using up-cycled materials & a variety of art media. Kids will design under the water scenes inventing mystical sea creatures, mermaids and lost pirate ships while integrating practical skills and problem solving. NATURE MANDALAS

Your kids will create gorgeous madalas with all kinds of materials found in nature. A mandala is an “integrated structure organized around a unifying center.” It is a circular and non-permanent symbol using patterns which represent the circle of life.
Kids: please come to class, (virtually or studio), with nature items and use what you have and/or exchange.

PRAYER FLAGS

With all the hardships and hurts worldwide this is a great time for teens to gather together and make their own original prayer flag. Traditionally, prayer flags were used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The Tibetans believe the prayers and messages will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion into the world.
Your teens will each create their own unique flag using a wide variety of materials (textiles, stencils, collage materials, magazines, beads, hand made papers, items from nature etc.)
This is a poetic, powerful and fun workshop which involves incorporating textural layers, using a variety of mediums and including a personal message that your teen can be proud to send out to the world.

ACRYLIC BASIC PAINTING

This class is structured for beginning painting students. You will learn the fundamentals of acrylic painting while working on your piece. The caterpillar is hungry and we’re going to feed it while creating two art projects! Using mixed media, kids will create a caterpillar poster it’s way into another dimension to find a new munchy treat……what is it? You’ll have to wait to find out! We’re also going to create edible edible caterpillars that your kids can munch away at while they explore, learn and have a blast at SD Studios!

Mexican Milagro Plaques

Why travel for real when your kids can visit different countries around the world with their imaginations. Each day we’ll explore a new country and create projects related to that country. Kids will learn fun facts about each country visited, while exploring new materials and techniques, and have a great time making cultural masterpieces. We will also create and eat ;), a traditional baked treat from that region.
